Undercova Funk (Give Up The Funk) - Snoop Dogg

There's several bite-marks out of the side of this record sleeve. Probably becausE! SNOOP AND THE GANG LOOK delicious in one of the best photoshop pastiches I have ever seen. As for the recording, SNOOP! has never sound more enthused about giving funk. It seems like Snoop samples the acapella choral parts of Who Am I (What's My Name), which makes it WORSE! Also, there is a guy making funny noises and there are high-pitched alien voices on this recording. Bootsy Collins is also on this record, but I can't hear his glasses. This was on the soundtrack to the classic post-blax film Undercover Brotha (er? not sure) and it truly reflects the strong spirit of black independance and shiny suits. Everyone is shiny in the song.

I feel great, like I have the funk here with me, riding alongside my every move, Bootsy giving me his approval at every turn. I also enjoy the spirit and concept of the movie Underglowver Brotheeah. This record means howling and Bootsy closing the single with "For those who still have virgin ears...well, you've been funked for the very first time, baby!" HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

On the opposite side, we have Lil' J...he sounds cool. Lotta Lauren Hill vibe from this song. This song easily beats the proto-avant funk workout disaster that was side A. It's summertime of the Willenium and you're eating Twizzlers in the park. Let that paint a vivid picture for you as "I Need Luv" by Lil' J doesn't blast, but simply jams, as a soundtrack to those idle days of youth...outstanding. The last song is Earth, Wind & Fire's "Whatever Happened to the...funk band that no one cares Rating: Bootsy Collins in Old School

Marsha Raven - I Like Plastic b/w Angel 43

Okay, we have some light crystal synthesizers and a very embarassing brass section. Marsha Raven is a 22-year-old go-getter who wants people to know she likes plastic. Vocoded breakdown chorus highlights the simplicity of this song. Marsha! Get it together. Seriousleee, please. I am dying. I am dying and It is because of Marsha. Come mmack marsha.

I maean maybe this song would be cool if you liked bad disco breaks and hilarious cover art...there is a cockney man talking in my speaker. This is like pain. This is like pain. This is like mapin. When does the other side start. Maybe this song will grow on me but it seems to copy Taco too much.

"Angel 43" is the second side. This is an exercise in mediocrity. I feel like someone accidentally issued an old, reverb-soaked karaoke tape as a dance single. What else mean can I say. You sound like someone becoming elderly on the dance floor. Yeah. Mean reviews MAN!!!!! Rating: SUPERSONIC LIGHT, SHE JUST SAID SUPERSONIC LIGHT

Cul De Sac & Damo Suzuki - Abhayamudra (Disc 2)

i lost/don't have/probably just don't have the first disco of thsis classic collection I've never heard before this is Damo Suzuki of a band called CAN. Can is responsible for funk music. James Brown is said to be heavily influenced after eating several CANs of Damno Suziuki. Heres what the music sounds like: very middle eastern. if this whole album is feedback i'm gonna flip my lid, i wanna hear a damosuzukifreekout. i'm watchin stuff in utube right now> but DAMO! is saying things now. It's his usual fare, he's beatboxing. Get down! This is neat if you want to hear Damo Suzuki doing wild, crazy, unbridled things on a microphone? He's in a trance I think this music would sell well at Starbucks, no offense Damo!! I don't really mean that, it's okay. It's just that they sell so much of that "WORLD MUSIC" and it's all compilations of trance house with a pan flute wjiweiuejajkasdjkneaq23eq98wudcsxwe have some little jammy ssssions here. Things are going a bit slow but we're getting through the mist. The point is that Damo makes this album fun and its a nice thing to listen to if you want to hear some interesting little plinky wave drumming really fast. Was he in Boredoms?

If you like drums I suggest a good listen to this. The coffee is working and iu felkl myself developing deeperand deeper into a tracnce now...will I sleep like a greayt gost of years past or will i fall deep deep deep deep deepe depeped depe deppe down into a slee for ten days Rating: Monster Dad

Deerhoof - Halfbird

I just grabbed a big piece of cheese from the fridge and now it's time to write about a music. Here, we have one of those drums and there's a girl "la"-ing and ugly guitar faces. Im down. I notice there are a lot of songs on this album, that could be trouble. THERES A FLUTE! This is neat now I think I like Dhoof gain. I wish I were a mouse*this album is a bit "HEAVIER" than the other ones I've heard by them. THe band. next track called: "MAN The King The Girl And The Spider" let's give it a spin.

This is kewl....i think so. Let me tell you what I think about these guys DEERHoof. They stop and start and use their instrumepts with relative ease making with jarring guitarring sounds...the freq. clashes directly with the girlsing...i mean what do you expect, can expect. I have a problem with the many tracks, that means more time listening...something to note, Mr. Hoof. Sunnyside is a highlight of the album and this sentence is a highlight of the review. Overall they taste like TV; perhaps an appearance on the Hit list is in order? I haven't finished listening to the album yet -- Deerhasslehoof is a band from Houstont. Rating: ARBY
